Now that looks warm!
Now that looks warm and cozy!

Wow, I can’t believe the first weekend at home with the ladies is almost over. I’m going to cook up some of Jess’s homemade macaroni and cheese recipe tonight. It has some jalapenos and tastes nicely spicy when done right. Wish me luck.

One of the reasons Jess and I set up the blog in the first place was to make it easier for everyone to get some fun baby pictures without having to blow up everyone’s e-mail. Of course, you’re welcome to the non-baby pictures as well. As far as I’m concerned, the shots on the blog are not really arts images, but rather, family snapshots. Feel free to print them with Winkflash, Snapfish, or whatever you like. One caveat—they’ll typically look much better if you save off the high-resolution version and not the one embedded into the blog post.

If that seems like a foreign concept, no worries;  here’s how you do it. Just click on the image you like, and your browser will open a high resolution version of the same photo. Once the image is open, you can right-click (or some weird 2-fingered gesture for you macophiles) and select “save as” from the context-specific menu that pops up. This way you’ll get a nice full-resolution 8-megapixel image. Assuming it’s a decent shot (not your responsibility), you should be able to blow it up to around 8″ x 10″ and still have a good-looking picture.

Yesterday, we slept in a bit, if you can call it that. Jess made some tasty breakfast of tater tots and breakfast burritos. I think I could eat burritos at every meal without serious regrets. Jess spent most of the morning working on her Phoenix grading and I continued to be in hyper-cleaning mode. I’m hoping that come Monday when I return to work, Jess will be all caught up with her work and be able to just relax. Here’s hoping!

Later in the afternoon, we tried to walk over the our local coffee shop for a mocha. It looked really nice outside, so we got out the Baby Bjorn that Lee and Jennifer graciously loaned us. We made it about 2 blocks before deciding it was too far for Jess (still some healing stitches) and a bit too windy, read cold, for Phoebe. Undaunted, we returned to the house and switched to the car. We didn’t hang out very long, but did manage to get some coffee.

Still later in the afternoon, Pastor Kevin dropped by to see Phoebe, give us his well-wishes, and say a very lovely prayer. As always, it’s nice to have an adult visitor. We also got to skype with Elaina in Mexico City and Grammie and Pappy, nee my mom and Don. Yes, they do live in Appalachia.

I’m sure things will change a lot over the coming weeks and years, but so far things seem to be going pretty well. Of course we’re a bit sleep deprived, but I managed to get the taxes done last night and still change a few poopy diapers! Yay!

This afternoon we returned to the coffee shop for another mocha and chai. Phoebe is zonked out in an apparent milk-coma. I’m happily blogging away and Jess is finishing off the last of the thank-you cards. If you haven’t received yours quite yet, it’ll be in the mail this week!
